It's on.
Again.
The good days are here, and with them comes an old friend to some, and a fearsome stranger to others. It is wiLANga.
WiLANga is a network gaming event held twice a year in the small town of Willunga, South of Adelaide, South Australia. It is on again on October 4th and it continues to grow. Every six months gamers from all over the southern region and a few from all across the state gather in The Rec Hall on Main Road, Willunga to experience a night of communal fragging and geekdom. wiLANga has no corporate sponsors and in a way, and we like it like that. In the past we had support from the Onkaparinga City Council, but now we support ourselves and we're damn proud of it. This is a communal gathering so the participants are the ones that make it possible.
It is an overnight event, open to gamers from all walks of life. It starts at around 6pm on Saturday the fourth of October and ends between 8am and 10am on the fifth. It is a friendly community event and good sportsmanship and positive attitudes are both encouraged and enforced. It is also a drug and alcohol free event, anyone found possessing or under the influence of either will be immediately kicked out.
This event is run because everyone puts in together to make it a good time. Please take a look at what to bring to make sure you've got the gear for an awesome time.
If you're under 15 you will need a signed permission slip from your parents, just to make sure they know that you're already messed up and that a few violent video games are hardly going to make you worse. There's a downloadable permission slip in those links on the side there, see?
Note: we do play some non violent video games, like age of empires etc, but we also play games where you get to cleave pixelated limbs off your fellow players so we'd rather you have the permission slip to be on the safe side.
